This Oman municipality just destroyed more than 150 kilos of 'unfit' frozen meat

Muscat: Ibri Municipality has destroyed 163 kilos of frozen poultry foodstuff that were unfit for human consumption, the agency announced.

This came after a number of inspection visits carried out by Ibri Municipality to various food stores in the state.

Dr. Bader bin Saif Al Yazizi, head of the Food and Veterinary Control Department in Ibri Municipality said: "These visits are in accordance with a timetable and a plan approved by the municipality to include the villages and areas of the state, in order to ensure the health and safety of food. The Municipality is keen to ensure that food reaches the consumer in a healthy and safe manner."

He added: "The visits resulted in the closure of many of the violating establishments.The visit also sought to sensitise the employees of these establishments and rectify the mistakes they are making.

"The owners of these establishments also asked to follow up with the municipality and cooperate with the municipal bodies to create a real partnership between the community and the municipality."
