Muscat: Oman will be implementing a number of transformative projects to expand its airports and roads in 2018, according to senior officials of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).
More than 340km of roads will be added to Oman’s transportation network. Eng. Dr. Mohammed Al Zaabi, CEO of PACA, said: “In 2017, we signed 17 air transport agreements. In 2018, we plan to sign 34.”
The 34 countries that PACA will be focusing on include Germany, France, China, India, Pakistan, Mauritius, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, South Africa, and Japan.
Al Zaabi further outlined how PACA’s revenue had grown by 127 per cent from 2014 to 2017 and it registered a 69 per cent increase in passenger numbers from 2013 to 2017.
