Muscat: While north Al Batinah witnessed isolated rain showers last night, fog and low clouds spread over the governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and North Dhofar this morning.
Low and medium clouds could also intensify and move on to other parts of the Sultanate bringing with it chances of rain.
The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said in an alert that rain and fog could cause low visibility.
PACA predicted that there could be clear or partly cloudy skies over the northern governorates in Oman with a slight chance of isolated rain. However, the rest of the Sultanate could witness mainly clear skies with chances of convective clouds developing over the Al Hajar Mountains and its adjoining areas.
There’s a possibility of isolated thunder showers that may extend to the coastal areas in the afternoon.
“Muscat and Ibri will reach temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius and Sur will reach 34 degrees Celsius, while Salalah and Masirah will reach 28 degrees Celsius,” PACA said in report.
“It rained in the morning and some wadis are overflowing,” Bader Ali Al Baddaei, an administrator of www.rathth.net, a local web-based forum that discusses weather in Oman, told the Times of Oman.
The Oman Meteorology Department stated that Rustaq, Suwaiq and Khaborah experienced heavy to light rain on Monday. “There are chances of rain in the coastal areas on Tuesday,” an official said.
In its 24-hour outlook, the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre said: “There are chances of clear to partly cloudy skies over the northern governorates of the Sultanate and mainly clear skies over the rest of the Sultanate, with a chance of convective cloud development over Al Hajar Mountains and isolated rain in the afternoon.”
“There are chances of low-level clouds or fog formation from late night until early morning along parts of the coastal areas of Oman and over parts of South Al Sharqiya, Al Wusta, and Dhofar governorates,” the centre added.
