Oman Cricket: ISC women win title at Al Yam tourney

Muscat: Playing good all-round cricket, the Indian Social Club (ISC) team defeated Rising Stars to lift the Women’s Cup in the Republic Day of India Al Yam Cricket Cup tournament at Al Ghurah Powerplant Ground during the last weekend.
On the final day proceedings, ISC team elected to bat first and scored 40 for the loss of just one wicket in six overs with Trupti topscoring with 17.
In reply, Rising Star fell short of their target scoring 24 runs in six overs for the loss of two wickets.
In another match of the Women’s Cup, Al Yam defeated GCC.
After electing to bat first, GCC scored 31 runs for the loss of one wicket in six overs. Heera topscored with11 runs. In reply, Al Yam chased the target in fifth over. Heena Khan top scored with 13.
Indian Ambassador Indramani Pandey presided over the final day proceedings as the chief guest while Mrs.Seema Pandey presented the winners trophy to Merita Pinto of ISC and Mrs. Muniza Shadab presented the runners-up trophy to Al Yam captain Geetha Jagdish.
The individual awards were presented by the guests of honour Mrs. Parvin Shahzad, Mrs. Nakshab and Mrs.Sufiya Khan.
The individual awards went to Al Yam’s Heena Khan (player of the match), ISC’s Payal Kanojia (best bowler), Al Yam’s Fiza Khan (best all-rounder), GCC’s Heera Khan (best batswoman) and Trupti Pawde (player of the tournament).
