Filipino expat in Oman gets first 10-year passport

Muscat: The Philippine embassy in Oman recently issued its first passport valid for ten years, handing it over to Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Mrs. Judith Martinez Jovita.
In a statement released at the time, the embassy said, "The Embassy of the Republic of Philippines in the Sultanate of Oman released [on January 29, 2018] the first Philippine passport valid for 10 years to Mrs. Judith Martinez Jovita, who hails from Davao City."
OFW Jovita has worked in Oman for more than five years, according to the statement.
The Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs had announced in October last year that it would begin issuing passports valid for ten years to its citizens over the age of 18, from January 1, 2018.
"Filipinos under 18 years will still be issued five-year valid passports," the statement said, adding, "The ten-year passport will cost PHP950.00 (approx. OMR7), which is the current price of a five-year passport."
