Muscat: Have you ever heard of or visited Wadi Al Ain's ancient burial sites in Ibri?
The sites, in the state of Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate, date back to the third century B.C., and Omani photographer Shihab Al Shandoudi shared with the Times of Oman a number of photographs and video of these burial sites.
The tombs were also only the second location in Oman to be listed in the World Heritage Site in Oman in 1988.
The tower burial chambers are 30 kilometres away from the Bat archaeological settlement and located on a series of high rocky hills in the north of Wadi Al Ain, where they are lined up in a semi-circle pattern.
There are a total of 21 burial chambers, all built with limestone blocks, with an outer perimeter of five meters. Each tower has a triangular entrance, all facing east.
