Oman shares end marginally lower

Muscat: Oman’s benchmark MSM30 Index was marginally lower by 0.04 per cent to close at 5,014.41 points. The MSM Sharia Index was unchanged at 709.01 points. Al Sharqia Investment Holding was the most active in terms of volume while Sembcorp Salalah led in terms of turnover. United Power was the top gainer, up 6.01 per cent while Oman Flour Mills was the top loser, down 2.91 per cent.
A total number of 498 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR966,000 with 3.98 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded securities, 10 advanced, 13 declined and 27 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors remained net buyers for OMR60,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR10,000 while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR70,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index retreated 0.15 per cent to close at 7,411.93 points. Al Sharqia Investments, Al Madina Takaful and NBO increased 2.46 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively. Taageer Finance, Muscat Finance, Ahli Bank, Gulf Investment Services and HSBC Bank declined 2.44 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.22 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 6,767.84 points, up 0.04 per cent. Oman Cement, National Aluminium and Al Maha Ceramics gained 4.59 per cent, 3.37 per cent and 2.81 per cent respectively. Oman Flour Mills, Voltamp Energy, Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Raysut Cement lost 2.91 per cent, 1.97 per cent, 1.50 per cent, 1.30 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 2,649.04 points, up 0.06 per cent. United Power, National Gas and Omantel gained 6.01 per cent, 5.08 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively. Ooredoo and Al Suwadi Power declined 1.15 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively.
