Cricket: Waves Engineering finish second in D Division

Muscat: Waves Engineering Consultancy earned themselves a coveted runner-up spot in the Enhance-sponsored eight-team D Division, winning their final league match against Rukun Al Yaqeen (RAY) by seven wickets at Muscat Municipality Ground II in Al Amerat.
RAY were dismissed for 113 in 17.3 overs after they chose to bat first. Raja Gunasekar (32 off 22) and David Raj (26 off 20) were the notable scorers. Kamaljot Singh claimed two wickets off only three balls that he bowled while Mohammed Waseem Khatri and Usman Haider also bagged two each.
In reply, Waves Engineering raced to the target in just 13 overs, scoring 114 for three thanks to brilliant knock by Kamaljot Singh (53 not out of 37) and Mohammed Shakeel Khatri (30 off 22). The team finished second behind Trust Oilfield Services who emerged champions with an unbeaten record.

Shiveray Mohanlal slammed an unbeaten 84 off 49 to help Douglas OHI upset National Bank of Oman (NBO) by seven wickets in a key E Division clash at Muscat Municipality Ground II.
Batting first, NBO posted 158 for eight on the board in 20 overs. Sagheer Mohammed and Manas Kapoor batted well to score 45 and 35 respectively. Taqeer Shahzad bowled beautifully to claim three wickets while Ramsheela Prasad and Viplav Kumar bagged two each.
Douglas OHI overhauled the target in 15.3 overs thanks to Mohanlal’s magical knock. Santosh Wishwakarma contributed 35 off 25.

Ahli Bank beat Al Rehwan
Ahli Bank ended their F Division league campaign on a winning note, beating Al Rehwan by three runs in a thrilling clash at Muscat Municipality Ground III as the latter paid a heavy price for bowling 18 wides.
Riding on useful contributions by Imran Syed (37 off 28) and Farrukh Jamal (32 off 29), Ahli Bank compiled a robust 172 for seven in 20 overs. Mohammed Shanid and Asif Rehman bagged two wickets each.
Al Rehwan made a valiant attempt at chasing down a good total but fell short by three runs, scoring 169 for seven in 20 overs. Jibin Kunnumpurat (61 off 41) and Raniz Muhammed (53 off 38) were the main scorers. Maaz Siddiqui took three wickets while Imran Syed bagged two.

Unique Elegant won the G Division title despite narrowly losing their last league game to Classic CT at the Muscat Municipality Ground IV.
Batting first, Unique Elegant scored 171 for seven in 20 overs thanks to useful knocks by Parag Bolar (34), Suketu Manilal (32), Amit Sampat (25) and Imran Ali (22). Saddam Hunerkar and Matiullah claimed two wickets each for Classic CT.
In reply, Classic CT surpassed the total in 19.4 overs, scoring 173 for nine thanks to brilliant 46 by Mehraan Ali and 37 by Ashraf Mohammed. For Unique Elegant, Vicky Chandrakant took three wickets while Irtaza Ahmed and Ismail Ikram bagged two each.
