Auction for VIP numbers in Oman begins

Muscat: The first auction for VIP mobile phone numbers was launched by two Oman telecom operators Omantel and Ooredooo at 10:00 am on Thursday.

The head of Omantel’s media department, Mohamed Alsalimi said, “The online auction was launched at 10 am on Thursday and will go on until 10 am on Saturday. Hundreds have registered in the last three days. Bidders can’t add anything less than OMR50 to the initial price of the VIP number. The auction will be won by the person with the highest bid.”

He further added, “The auction is open for people and institutions, and the registration fee of OMR20 is non-refundable. Once the auction is complete we will contact the winners."
