26 restaurants in Oman shut over health violations

Muscat: In the last three days, 26 restaurants were shut down and 735 kg of inedible food was destroyed in the Wilayat of Barka, the municipalities of Al Batinah south governorate announced.
According to the municipalities, on the first day, 43 eateries were visited where 31 health violations were discovered. The department then closed 8 eateries and destroyed 345 kg of food unfit for consumption. The second day saw officers visit 41 food eateries, where 33 health violations were found. Out of the 41, 12 eateries were closed and 170 kg of food and a number of equipment tools were destroyed.
In a statement published online, the Al Batinah south Municipalities said, “The inspection campaign carried out by the municipalities of Al Batinah south, in the state of Barka visited 36 food facilities where 22 health violations were found. Out of the 36 facilities, 6 were closed and 220 kg of non-edible food was destroyed.”
