Muscat: Bollywood’s fascination for locations in the Sultanate to shoot movies is well known but this time a team from the Indian Hindi film industry is coming to the Muscat Festival.
Rahul Mittra, Deepak Tijori and Harshvardhan Deo, actors from the Indian Hindi film industry, will be in Muscat for the first shot of a Hindi-Arabic sports-themed movie to be filmed in Oman and India.
The first shot of the movie will be filmed at the Muscat Festival venue at Amerat, followed by shoots at other exotic locations in Oman.
Rahul Mittra, Deepak Tijori and Harshvardhan Deo have made a big name for themselves in Indian cinema.
Rahul Mittra is an award-winning filmmaker who has produced path-breaking films like 'Saheb Biwi aur Gangster', 'Saheb Biwi aur Gangster Returns', 'Bullett Raja', 'Revolver Rani', 'Sarkar 3' and is currently producing 'Saheb Biwi aur Gangster 3' and 'Torbaaz' (under production) with Sanjay Dutt.
Deepak Tijori is an Indian film director and actor well known for his roles in films like 'Aashiqui', 'Khiladi', 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar', 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa', 'Anjaam', 'Ghulam' and 'Baadshah'. His directorial venture includes films like 'Oops', 'Fareb', 'Khamoshh... Khauff Ki Raat' and 'Tom, Dick, and Harry' among others.
Harshvardhan Deo, who made his Bollywood debut with the film 'Jigariyaa' also acted in 'Neelofar' and has many other films lined up.
A spokesperson for the production house said, "We are pleased to film the first shot in Muscat. Major part of the film will be shot in Oman. We are doubly thrilled that the first shot is being filmed during the annual Muscat Festival at Amerat. Muscat Festival is a highlight in Oman's calendar and an iconic month-long celebration that features cultural, sport, and heritage activities. I am sure the actors and filmmakers who have arrived from India will enjoy the stunning locales of Oman."
The movie will capture the life of a cricket-obsessed young boy from a remote Indian town whose only aim is to become a cricketer and fulfil his dream of representing the Indian national cricket team globally. Whether the boy can accomplish his dream will be the focus of the film.
"A number of Bollywood, regional films and songs have been shot in Oman. While the audiences have been impressed with exotic locales, government authorities in Oman have been open to promoting the Sultanate as a destination for film shoots. We hope to showcase the natural appeal of the county through our film," said the spokesperson.
