Oman bans import of birds from Iraq

Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has banned the import of all live birds and their products from Iraq.
The ministry issued this official statement: “A ministerial decision has been taken to ban the import of live birds, eggs, and their products from the Republic of Iraq. This decision is based on the recommendation of the competent veterinary authority.”
Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries had banned birds from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as a precautionary measure after monitoring authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with regards to the cases of infection through bird flu at the Aziziyah market in Riyadh.
“We have stopped the licences of importing live birds and their products and eggs from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the Ministry announced.
