Muscat: Vivek Kolluru and Kaavya Jayakumar clinched titles at the ISC-Muscat Pharmacy Open Junior Tennis Tournament organised by the Indian Social Club (ISC), Vivek claiming the boys under-14 singles title and Kaavya winning a double crown with victory in the girls under-12 and under14 singles.

In the boys under-14 final, lefthander Vivek put in a class act and displayed brilliant touch on the way to recording a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win over Surya Mariappan.

Kaavya Jayakumar stole the limelight with a double crown. In the final of the girls under-12, Kaavya staved off a spirited challenge from Kira Malakhova before lifting the title with a 6-3, 6-3 verdict.

Kavya dominated proceedings in both sets with early breaks but had her share of anxious moments as the Russian rallied strongly. Kaavya held her ground to ensure victory.

In the girls under-14 singles final, talented Omani girl, Safanah Al Riyami put up a brilliant fight winning the second set to force the third set super tie-breaker before losing out narrowly to Kaavya who won with final scores of 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.
