Oman to have 18 electric vehicle charging stations soon

Muscat: Eighteen charging stations will be opened throughout the country during a 1,200km tour by a fleet of electric vehicles (EVs).
Organised by Global EVRT, a firm that aims to accelerate EV adoption in Oman, the road trip will see the opening of charging stations along the route.
Oman’s first EV charging station was opened at the Crown Plaza, Sohar, as part of the tour.
Fifty five people are participating in the road trip from Abu Dhabi to Muscat to Dubai.
Omani residents are welcome to be a part of the road shows planned in Sohar and Muscat, and will also be given a chance to drive EVs and quiz experts on EVs in the GCC.
Students at Sultan Qaboos University will also get a chance to interact with the fleet, as the convoy plans to visit the university. The students will also have the chance to drive the EVs.
The convoy reached Oman on Friday night in electric vehicles that included the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model S.
A Future Mobility Round-table discussion is scheduled to take place at the InterContinental hotel in Muscat today (Jan 22), after which the participants will return to Dubai. The event will highlight strategies for the adoption of EVs in the Sultanate.
