Oman Cricket: Bank Muscat, IBN Blasters post easy wins

Muscat: Bank Muscat registered a thumping 51-run win against Gazal Spices in an E Division clash at Muscat Municipality Ground IV in Al Amerat.
Batting first, Bank Muscat posted an impressive 176 for six in 20 overs thanks to a superb 55 off 31 balls by Mony. Varun (37 off 31) and Akshay (31 off 21) were the other notable scorers. Riyaz and Sajeev took two wickets each.
Struggling at 72 for five, Gazal Spices lost the momentum early and was dismissed for 125 in exactly 20 overs. Mohsin (29 off 20) and Riyaz (28 off 20) were the only batsmen who offered resistance to some tight bowling by bank Muscat. Ashish and Benny Mathew bagged two wickets each.

Vibin shines for Blasters

IBN Blasters rode on excellent all-round show by Vibin Panaparambil to hand Al Siraj Holdings an embarrassing nine-wicket thrashing in an I Division game at OAC Ground III in Al Seeb.
Asked to bat first, Al Siraj had a miserable outing, folding up for a paltry 79 in the 16th over. Hariharan Algirisamy topscored with 17 off 15 balls. Vibin Panaparambil bowled exceptionally with the new ball, taking two wickets for 11 runs in his four-over spell. Six other bowlers bagged one wicket each.
Opening the innings, Vibin was impressive with the bat too, netting a strokeful 36 off 21 as Blasters raced to victory, scoring 82 for one in the seventh over. Oliyath Vazhayil contributed a whirlwind 20 not out off seven balls.

Anu Amal lifts Sohar
In an Al Turki-sponsored Women’s League match, Anu Amal slammed an impressive 51 off 33 balls to guide Women’s Cricket Sohar to an exciting 21-run win against Indian Social Club (ISC) Women at Ministry of Sports (MOS) Ground II in Al Amerat.
Invited to bat first, Women’s Cricket Sohar posted 146 for four on the board in 20 overs. Apart from Anu, Sakshi Shetty (28 off 30) and Wilma Priya Dsouza (21 off 32) were the other main contributors.
Happily placed at 63 for one in the 11th over, ISC suddenly lost some quick wickets as well as the momentum to lose their grip on the match. In the end, 125 for seven was all it could manage in its quota of 20 overs. Geetha Jagdish (25 off 40) and Mouna Monappa (22 off 20) were the only notable scorers.

ISM trounce PSM
Vrishab Jesrani’s magical spell in which he claimed six wickets helped Indian School Muscat (ISM) thrash Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) by eight wickets in a Khimji Ramdas-sponsored Junior League Under-19 match at MOS Ground II.
Bowling brilliantly, Vrishab ran through the PSM side claiming six wickets for just 17 runs in 8.2 overs, three of which were maidens.
PSM’s meagre 76 caused ISM no trouble as it achieved victory in the 16th over, scoring 79 for two. Raghavan topscored with an unbeaten 20 off 26.
