Muscat: After an exciting two-day golfing action, Almouj Golf Club emerged the champions at the Alfa Romeo Cup, Oman’s premier inter-club championship, here recently.

The championship, which attracted teams from the country’s four grass course clubs Ghala Golf Club, Almouj Golf Club, Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club and Ras Al Hamra Golf Club, was organised at Almouj Golf.

While Almouj took the top honours, Ghala Golf Club team settled for the second place.

While the teams as well as the golf enthusiasts enjoyed the exciting action and applauded the performances of the players, one prize went unclaimed as none of the participants were able record a hole-in-one to win a brand new Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce from Dhofar Automotive.

Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony, Ziyad Al Zubair, Board Director at The Zubair Corporation, said: “Organising an event such as this requires great effort. I am therefore extremely proud of the astounding levels of preparations and the professional skill of the participating players and teams. Furthermore, this tournament has, over the years, earned a reputation as the premier golfing platform to engage the entire competitive golfing community in the Sultanate.”

“We are elated with the success of this championship, which we once again organised together with the Oman Golf Committee. As such, I would like to thank them for the continued support over the years and look forward to working with them again for future tournaments,” he added.
