I am not a racist, says U.S. President Trump

U.S. President Trump said on Sunday that he is 'not a racist' despite reports of his derogatory comments about immigrants from Haiti and Africa, adding that he was 'ready, willing and able' to reach a deal to protect immigrants brought to the United States as children.

After a long weekend of controversy, Donald Trump denying again he'd made derogatory commnet on Haiti and African nations last week.
That, and mixed messages over what will happen to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals programme.
Earlier in the day he tweeted it was "probably dead." Hours later, he seemingly took a U-turn on DACA, saying he'd keep the door open for a deal.

Reports of Trump's racist remarks met harsh criticism across party lines and have complicated the debate over the program in Congress.
Lawmakers are trying to reach a deal that combines some form of relief for DACA immigrants, the so-called 'Dreamers,' and enhanced border security, like Trump's wall along the Mexican border But his recent comments have left them struggling to find a path forward.
Time is ticking to reach a deal before Friday when Congress must pass a funding bill to avoid a government shutdown.
