Poll campaign reaches fever pitch on eve of Indian school board election

Muscat: Candidates contesting the election for the board members of Indian schools in Oman are doing everything to woo their constituents a day ahead of the voting.
As many as 15 candidates are taking part and five will be elected to the board.
Indian expat parents said that the poll campaign has reached a fever pitch, as of Friday. They added that candidates are reaching out to eligible voters via phone calls and voice messages.
"I have been getting constant messages from the candidates, relatives and friends. It also included voice messages and lyrics created by them. It is quite annoying at times," said indian expat S. Basu, whose son studies in Indian School Muscat (ISM).
The election commission appointed by the ISM said that as candidates can't reach out to everyone, relatives and friends of the potential board members were reaching out to eligible voters.
Voting will take place in Indian School Muscat (ISM) on Saturday. It will begin at 8 am and finish at 5 pm at the new multipurpose hall on ISM premises. Parents will be casting their vote on paper ballots.
Each set of parents will be allowed only one vote. Moreover, only the parent casting the ballot will be allowed inside the school premises. Voters have been requested to bring their resident card along, as no other identification is acceptable.
The election commissioner appointed by ISM has issued a pamphlet disclosing the names and profiles of the 15 candidates.
