Armed Forces honour Oman’s Gulf Cup winners

Muscat: Lieutenant General Ahmed bin Harith Al Nabhani, the Chief of Staff of Sultan’s Armed Forces, honoured the members of Gulf Cup-winning Oman team.
The Sultanate’s squad, who lifted the coveted title at the 23rd Gulf Cup in Kuwait last Friday, comprised a number of players from Sultan’s Armed Forces and they were deservedly honoured by Lieutenant General Ahmed bin Harith Al Nabhani during an ceremony attended by Oman Football Association (OFA) officials, including chairman Sheikh Salim Al Wahaibi.

Besides the players, the other members of Armed Forces who were part of official Omani contingent in Kuwait were also honoured during the ceremony.
While congratulating the team and the Oman Football Association for Gulf Cup success, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Al Nabhani lauded the national team’s performance and their wonderful technical level of performance.
He also urged the team to continue with their good work and to improve further in order to win more laurels for Oman at regional and international events.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Al Nabhani also honoured the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) for their role during the Gulf Cup.

It may be mentioned that Oman team flew to Kuwait by RAFO flight and the victorious team then returned to Muscat on the same RAFO flight. The RAFO also flew some of the fans to Kuwait City to witness Oman team making history.
Major General Matar bin Ali Al Obaidani, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman, and Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raeesi, Commander of Royal Navy of Oman, were among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony.
