Muscat: The Indian Embassy of Oman celebrated the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, commemorated every year across the globe on January 9, at its premises in Muscat.

More than 300 people from the Indian community attended the event in which the ambassador of India H.E. Indra Mani Pandey invited suggestions and proposals from the diaspora that could be passed on to the government of India.

One of the suggestions included promoting Indian patent technologies to the world. "The whole world knows India for its software. My humble suggestion would be to display Indian patented technologies to the world", said a member.

"A welcome email that is a brochure suggesting some of the do's and dont's for the tourists who come to the country" is another recommendation that was given.

There were a lot of social workers who had suggestions to improve the conditions of the blue collar workers including bringing amnesty to Oman.

A youth forum for all the high school where they can share their ideas not just for cultural and educational purposes but also for policies and decision making of the nation was an idea that was well received by both the ambassador as well as the community.

The ambassador was grateful to the community for being a part of this valuable session where some valuable suggestions and ideas were exchanged.

"Whatever suggestions you have made have been duly noted. We will try to improve our systems and I request your continued cooperation in terms of improving the community's access to India and the community's access to the embassy", said H.E. Indra Mani Pandey
