New maternal, childcare hospital to be opened in Oman

Sohar: A hospital specialising in maternal and child care will be constructed in Sohar, according to an announcement by the Oman Investment Corporation (OIC).

"Oman Investment Corporation plans to build a specialised maternity and child care hospital, with a capacity of up to 60 beds in an area of 20,000 sqm, in Sohar state," OIC announced.

According to Kalat Al Balushi, CEO of OIC, the hospital will also have a wellness and IVF center. It's expected to be operational by 2020.

"The project will be located in Al Waqibah opposite the Sohar Hospital. It is hoped that it will begin to be implemented during the first quarter of this year," Municipality of Sohar announced.

Oman Investment Corporation launched the project under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Mishary Al Shamsi, Wali of Sohar, and members of the Municipal Committee on Monday. The project is supported by the Municipal Council.
