Oman’s share index falls marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 Index had marginal decline of 0.10 per cent to close at 5,088.72 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 716.24 points, up 0.18 per cent. MCDC remained the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Taageer Finance, up 5.04 per cent, was the top gainer while Ahli Bank, down 2.30 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 2,763 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating a turnover of OMR3.39 million with 20.09 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded securities, 14 advanced, 5 declined, and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign Investors were net buyers for OMR178,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR96,000 while Omani Investors switched to net sellers for OMR274,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,504.86 points, up 0.10 per cent. Taageer Finance, Al Madina Takaful, Al Madina Investments, Al Izz Bank and Al Anwar Holding increased 5.04 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 1.32 per cent. Ahli Bank, down 2.30 per cent, was the only sector loser.
Industrial Index gained 0.14 per cent to finish at 6,861.03 points. Gulf International Chemicals, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramics increased 3.31 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 0.82 per cent respectively. Oman Flour Mills, down 0.43 per cent was the sole market loser.
Services Index ended little changed at 2,640.06 points, down 0.01 per cent. Renaissance Services, OIFC, Oman Oil and Muscat City Desalination increased 1.35 per cent, 0.72 per cent, 0.69 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively. Phoenix Power, Al Jazeera Services and Omantel lost 2.17 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively.
