Indian expats asked to contribute to cleanliness campaign fund

Muscat: The Indian embassy in Muscat has invited the Indian expat community to contribute to a fund related to the union government’s cleanliness campaign.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or clean India campaign was launched the BJP-led government in 2014. The fund is called Swachh Bharat Kosh.

“Embassy invites Indian community in Oman, to contribute to the success of the #SwachhBharatMission by contributing to Swacch Bharat Kosh. Details of the fund (Kosh) are available at sbkosh.gov.in” the Indian embassy’s official handle tweeted.

Swachh Bharat Kosh was set up to attract Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from Corporate Sector and contributions from individuals and philanthropists in response to the call given by Prime Minister on 15th August, 2014 to achieve the objective of Clean India (Swachh Bharat) by the year 2019, the 150th year of the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi through Swachh Bharat Mission. Gandhi’s teachings laid emphasis on cleanliness as virtue

A nation-wide effort started on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, 2014 to mobilize resources for improving sanitation facilities in the rural and urban areas, particularly, school premises.

Donations can be made to a State Bank of India account associated with the fund.
