Muscat: A 23-member Oman team will depart for China on Wednesday to take part in the AFC Under-23 Championship.
According to the Oman Football Association (OFA), the Sultanate’s squad comprises three goalkeeprs in Ibrahim Al Mukhaini of Al Arouba, Faris Al Ghaithy of Sohar and Bilal Al Balushi of Oman Club.
The other members of the team are Mutaz Saleh, Majid Al Saadi, Juma Al Habsi, Thani Al Rushaidi, Abdullah Fawaz, Al Mundhar Al Alawi, Jameel Al Yahmadi, Marwan Taib, Azzan Al Tamtami, Mohsin Al Ghassani, Mutasim Al Muhaijri, Hassan Al Ajmi, Moaz Al Khalidi, Ahmed Al Kaabi, Ahmed Al Matrooshi, Sameer Al Alawi, Zahir Al Aghbari, Yousuf Al Mukhaini, Abdulaziz Al Ghailani and Ibrahim Al Sawafi.
The AFC U23 Championship will be organised in China from January 9 to 27.
Hamad Al Azzani-coached Oman are placed in Group A along with hosts China, Qatar and Uzbekistan.
The Sultanate squad will start their campaign with a match against China on January 9. They face Qatar on January 12 before completing their group engagements with a match against Uzbekistan on January 15.
The top two teams from each of four teams will advance to quarterfinals to be played on January 19.
The semifinals will be played on January 23 while the third-place play-off and the final are scheduled for January 26 and 27 respectively.
