Shops shut down for engaging in illicit activities

Muscat: Muscat Municipality (MM) closed a number of shops for not renewing licences and engaging in unauthorised activities.

"The field follow-up department in the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Al Seeb has carried out a number of closures for multiple shops in Al Mabella, due to non-renewal of permits and unauthorised activities. Some closed due to goods offering outside the premises." MM announced online.

Article (2) of the local order stipulates that the municipality has the right to close food establishments and shops related to public health in case of activity without obtaining the municipality's licence.

The administrative sanctions related to the exercise of an activity without obtaining a licence set a fine of OMR 300 for unlicensed shops and a suspension of work until the licence is issued, in addition to a fine of OMR 200 for commercial shops when not renewed the licence.
