Oman's share index recovers on better support

Muscat: Oman’s benchmark MSM30 Index gained 0.28 per cent to end at 5,075.84 points. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.09 per cent to close at 708.16 points. Due to a special deal, Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of both volume and turnover. Sunday’s top gainer was Bank Dhofar, up 3.48 per cent, while the top loser was Oman Education & Training, down 2.56 per cent.
A total number of 202 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR2.72 million with 8.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 8 advanced, 11 declined, and 23 remained unchanged. At the end of the trading session, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR42,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR25,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR17,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index advanced 0.36 per cent to finish at 7,427.24 points. Bank Dhofar, Al Madina Investments, Al Sharqia Investments, HSBC Bank and United Finance increased 3.48 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 0.93 per cent, 0.81 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively. Vision Insurance, Al Madina Takaful, Taageer Finance, Oman Qatar Insurance and Al Anwar Holding decreased 1.34 per cent, 1.00 per cent, 0.85 per cent, 0.67 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively.
Industry Index declined 0.19 per cent to close at 6,745.49 point. Gulf International Chemicals, up 0.90 per cent was the only gainer. Al Maha Ceramics and Oman Fisheries decreased 2.53 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively.
Services Index ended at 2,572.14 points, down 0.07 per cent. Omantel gained 0.41 per cent to close at OMR1.210. Oman Education & Training and Phoenix Power declined 2.56 per cent and 0.74 per cent respectively.
