Readers Response: Wise policies make Oman a nation of religious tolerance

Muscat: The wise policies of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and Oman’s principles of religious tolerance are what have contributed to Oman being free of religious violence, say expats in the country.
A new global report by the United States Commission of International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which conducts research on the presence of freedom of religion and the right for people to practice their chosen faiths around the world, said that Oman is free of any form of religious conflict.
Qeemat Ali said: “The Sultanate of Oman is the best country in the world. Omanis are very respectful people. As per my international travelling experience, Oman ranks first among peacefulness, cleanliness, zero crime, very good rules and regulations, and it is the best destination for foreigners.”
Anitha Varghese added: “All the love, praises, respects and blessings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the people of Oman. This land deserves the best of the best.” Indrakumar Kumarasamy chipped in with: “This is the first country I have been where I have seen such beautiful people. They are pure, kind and absolutely remarkable, thanks to His Majesty. May God give him more years to rule this country and these beautiful people.”
Irrespective of where they came from, expatriates who had arrived in the Sultanate did not hold back from praising the country’s tolerant and friendly nature.
“Omanis are the most friendly people in the world and they are proud of their hospitality,” revealed Valsala Pillai. “I have been in this beautiful country for more than 35 years and still continue to stay here. This is my second homeland. I love Oman, may god bless His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of Oman and its citizens,” and Mustafa Kemal added: “We are proud of our fraternity and close bonding with the Sultanate of Oman and it's great people. God bless His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and our wonderful brothers and sisters of Oman.”
Abdul Mannan said: “Yes, this is a very nice and peaceful country. We have been living here for the last 15 years with the family. Thanks to god, we are very thankful to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the citizens of Oman,” with Mohammed Naseem adding, “Oman is peaceful because of its wise and honest leadership. May god bless HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said with the best health and long life.”
Many foreign nationals who had previously worked in Oman also agreed with what those who lived in the country had said, and hoped they could return to the country to live and work someday.
Louise Hudson said: “I spent five very happy years living in Oman. I miss the country but have great memories,” and Muhammed S. Asgar added: “This is absolutely right. I worked there for 20 years.Greetings from Bangladesh to the Omani people.
Bran Harvz admitted: “Oman is a beautiful country. I miss Oman. Shout out to everyone who made it a great place, Omanis and expatriates alike.” Ijaz Jeelani said: “The Sultanate of Oman is the best country in the world. Omanis are very respectful people. I miss you Oman, please call me back.”
Other expats praised the country for the progress it had made over the last few decades, and hoped for the country to continue down its path of development.
John Lowery added: “Oman can distinguish itself from the others and take a place, built on the gains so far, to stand up in the gathering of those who have strived for the pinnacle of success through their own trials and failures. You've come this far and are proud of it. We salute you in this quest,” as Sampath Soundarajan added: “Oman has set up very high standards in whatever they do, to sustain at the top and to keep improving all the time, which is a very great thing. Wishing the country the very best, may they keep moving ahead.” Margaret D’ Mello said: “Absolutely right, this country is the best. All thanks to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. May God bless him.”
