Second world conference on tourism and culture to begin in Muscat on Monday

Muscat: Oman is all set to play host to the second world conference on Tourism and Culture starting on Monday.
The two-day conference will be held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC). It is being conducted in collaboration with the ministry of tourism, United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
The meeting will be held under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers High Highness Fahad bin Mahmoud Al Said.
The event is to be attended by as many as 700 participants from over 70 countries, including 30 ministers.
Meanwhile, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism Her Excellency Maitha Al Maqrouqi has been busy receiving delegates from various countries who arrived to the Sultanate to attend the conference. This included Mahesh Sharma, Minister of Culture of India, the First Lady of Iceland Her Excellency Eliza Jean Reid and president of the board Petra National Trust Her Highness Princess Dana Firas.
Moreover, authorities examined the venue in the days leading up to the conference to ensure that the event is conducted smoothly.
His excellency Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrizi had visited the Oman convention and Exhibition Centre to assess the preparation.
Also, Tourism Minister Ahmed Al Mahrzi met Dr Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of World Tourism Organization in the run up to the events.
