Muscat bourse ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM30 Index retreated 0.37 per cent to end the session at 5,090.68 points. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 717.35 points, down 0.13 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Al Izz Bank was the day’s top gainer, up 1.54 per cent, while top loser was Bank Nizwa, down 2.15 per cent.
A total number of 425 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating a turnover of OMR2.87 million with 11.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded securities, 4 advanced, 7 declined, and 25 remained unchanged. At the end of the trading session, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR1.68 million while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR1.44 million followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR241,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index ended negatively at 7,417.03 points, down 0.47 per cent. Al Izz Bank and Al Madina Takaful increased 1.54 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively. Bank Nizwa, Bank Muscat and NBO slid 2.15 per cent, 2.02 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively.
Industry Index closed unchanged at 6,791.07 points. Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Fisheries gained 0.79 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, down 1.28 per cent, was the sole sector loser.
Services Index declined 0.25 per cent to finish at 2,574.03 points. Renaissance Services, OIFC and National Gas lost 1.48 per cent, 0.71 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively.
