State Council committee discusses child safety

Muscat: A proposed general framework for updating legislation on child safety was discussed by a high power panel on Tuesday.
The Social Committee of the State Council held its third meeting of the sixth term under the chair of Dr. Muna bint Ahmed Al Sa'adoon, and discussed the national project for limiting child accidents.
The committee also reviewed the proposed general framework which aims at revising the legislations related to child safety and proposing new items or amending the existing articles. They also discussed the need to develop a national strategy for limiting child accidents and ensure safe childhood as per world class standards and with the involvement of the different sectors.
They also reviewed the programs submitted from the different sectors and the level of coordination to ensure increasing efficiency in limiting child accident, provide financial and non-financial subsidy, provide human resources for agencies that provide accident preventive programs and enable society to play an active role in limiting this program. The meeting also followed up the performance of the existing programmes.
