Conference at Sultan Qaboos University to develop mathematics curriculum

Muscat: A three-day International Conference on Modern Trends in Math Novel Curriculum started yesterday at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asa’ad Al Said, Assistant Secretary General for Communications at The Research Council (TRC).
Dr. Majda bint Talib Al Hinaiyah, Chairperson of the Omani Mathematics Committee and Director of the SQU e-Learning Centre delivered a speech where she pointed out that since inception, the Omani Mathematics Committee is keen on carrying out its duties and mission.
The Committee launched the 1st Omani Mathematics Day in 2015 and the 2nd Omani Mathematics Day in 2016.
The third Omani Mathematics Day will shed light on the early teaching of mathematics.
Hamoud bin Khalfan Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education and Curricula gave a lecture on the plans of the Ministry of Education to develop mathematics curriculum.
The seminar included a number of themes that were presented by professors William Spare and Douglas Clement. There has been a parallel seminar on the use of electronic calendar in teaching math by Abdullah Al Abri.
