​Prophet's birthday holiday announced in Oman

Muscat: Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council yesterday issued a decision stating that Tuesday, 16 Rabee Al Awwal, 1439 AH corresponding to December 5, 2017, will be an official holiday for employees of the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state administrative apparatus on the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s Birthday (PBUH), as a compensation for Friday 12th Rabee Al Awwal, 1439 AH corresponding to December 1, 2017.
The decision said: “On the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s Birthday (PBUH), it was decided that Tuesday, 16th Rabee Al Awwal, 1439 AH corresponding to December 5, 2017, will be an official holiday for the employees of the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state administrative apparatus, as a compensation for Friday 12th Rabee Al Awwal, 1439 AH corresponding to December 1, 2017".
Sayyid Khalid extended heartfelt greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on this happy occasion, praying to the Almighty to protect His Majesty and grant him good health, happiness and a long life and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty for many years to come, the Omani people and our dear country further progress and welfare under the wise leadership of His Majesty, and all Muslims prosperity and blessings.
On his turn, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower issued a ministerial decision stopping work at the private sector companies and establishments on Tuesday, 16th Rabee Al Awwal, 1439 AH corresponding to December 5, 2017 on the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s Birthday (PBUH).
The decision allows employers and employees to agree on work arrangements during the holiday if necessity arises.
All employees in the private sector extended heartfelt greetings to His Majesty the Sultan on this blessed occasion, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect His Majesty and grant him good health, happiness and a long life and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty and the Omani people with blessings.

Earlier, it was announced that the National Day public holidays for all public and private sector workers would be on December 3 and 4, making the combined days off a 5-day break for most.
Tuesday, 5 December 2017 official leave for employees in ministries and public authorities and other units of the administrative apparatus of the State on the occasion of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the country's official news agency reported.
