Oman athletics: The Wellness Centre named official partner of Almouj Muscat Marathon

Muscat: With around two months to go for the 2018 Almouj Muscat Marathon, The Wellness Centre, a world-class fitness club at The Walk, Almouj, has been named the official Fitness Partner of the much awaited athletic event.
According to a statement issued by the organisers of the two-day running festival taking place in January, The Wellness Centre will provide free public training sessions every weekend leading up to the event, with expert supervision supplied by its specialised coaches.
These training sessions will be open to all participants of Almouj Muscat Marathon and will take place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
“The Wellness Centre is a valued part of Almouj Muscat experience and is actively supporting our belief in the benefits of a healthy lifestyle,” said Salma Al Hashmi, CMO at Oman Sail.
“It is entirely appropriate and fitting that The Wellness Centre is joining Almouj Muscat Marathon team as our official Fitness Partner. Their pre-marathon training sessions will be a real boost for the many hundreds of local runners who will be taking part next year.”
Almouj Muscat Marathon forms part of a two-day running festival which will be held on January 18 and 19, 2018.
As well as the full 42km marathon, the extended and fast-growing event also features half-marathon and 10km races, a marathon relay category, and kids run, and a charity fun run.
“We are delighted to add our support to Almouj Muscat Marathon as its official Fitness Partner,” said Gary Hunt, Managing Directorof The Wellness Centre.
“The Wellness Centre’s coaches have designed a programme that includes structured training runs, warm-up drills, cool-down and recovery activities, nutrition guidance, strength training, and race-day prep. We look forward to playing a key role in keeping spirits high,” he added.
The training sessions, which began at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on November 18, will run until the weekend before Almouj Muscat Marathon.
The Wellness Centre will be giving away limited-edition ‘Let’s Move for A Better World’ T-shirts to the first 20 participants every week. Every participant will have a unique opportunity to experience The Wellness Centre with a complimentary Day Pass to the facility.
Participants will also enter a raffle draw on January 13. The first prize is a three-month Gym Membership at The Wellness Centre, which includes a three-stage induction by a personal trainer, access to all Group Exercise classes, collagen saunas and admission to the private member’s lounge. Other prizes include wearable fitness gadgets – a Fitbit Charge HR wristband and a Polar Loop waterproof activity tracker.
