Malaysian Fruits Festival held at Mars Hypermarket

Muscat: The Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat and Mars Hypermarkets, in collaboration with the Malaysian Agricultural Office in Dubai, organised a Malaysian Fruits Festival at Mars Hypermarket, Al Khoud, on 16 November 2017.
The two-day event was officiated by H.E. Shahril Effendi Abd. Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Sultanate of Oman, in the presence of V.T. Vinod, Managing Director of Mars Hypermarket.
Free fruits sampling and demonstrations were carried out during the event. Among the fruits showcased at the event were jackfruit, pineapple, rambutan, rock melon, papaya and sun melon.
This is the second such event to be held in the Sultanate of Oman following the inaugural Malaysian Fruits Festival which was held in May 2016.
For the period January to July 2017, bilateral trade for the agriculture sector between the Sultanate of Oman and Malaysia has recorded an increase of 24% to USD47.79 million from USD37 million for the corresponding period in 2016.
