Vital new road stretch opens in Oman

Muscat: A 27km stretch of the Al Batinah Expressway, from the wilayat of Saham to Sohar, has been opened, the Ministry of Transport and Communications announced.

The Al Batinah Expressway project has been underway since 2015. The Muscat-Barka section was first opened, then the second section of Al Aqr-Khatmat Milahah, then the Bakrah–Hazm section, and lastly the Liwa-Shinas section.

The Batinah Expressway will start at the end of the Muscat Expressway and continue till Khatmat Malaha in wilayat Shinas and will have a total length of 272 kilometres.

The project includes a number of intersections to meet the traffic needs of wilayats in the South and North Al Batinah Governorates.
