Muscat: With Target LLC deciding to extend their support to Khalid Soomar, the Omani rally driver is set to continue his exploits in the Oman and the UAE rally championships.
Thanks to the sponsorship from Target LLC, Khalid Soomar, who currently leads the UAE Rally Championship with 51 points, confirmed his participation in the next round of the UAE series in Al Dhaid this month.
The Omani ace, who drives a Mitsubishi Evo 7, is now hoping to continue with his good showing in the championship in the company of his co-driver Issa Al Wardi.
Confirming the extension of their support to Khalid Soomar, Target LLC General Manager and board member Yousef Shammas said: “This is not the first time we are sponsoring Khalid Soomar. We have been associated with him for the last two seasons. Now we are entering the third season which will see him participate in the Oman and UAE rally events.”
“At Target LLC, we are glad to continue to support Khalid as part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Khalid is a good driver and always looking for success,” he added.

Target LLC’s Deputy General Manager Tareq Shammas, meanwhile, said: “We have been supporting various programmes as part of our CSR initiatives over the years. We have been supporting Khalid Soomar for the last two years and we are now glad to continue with that support. Previously we have also supported Khalid’s brother Khalil for two seasons.”
A delighted Khalid Soomar, meanwhile, said: “I really appreciate the support I got from Target LLC this season. I would like to thank Yousef Shammas and Tareq Shammas for their support.”
“Currently I am leading the championship in UAE. And to continue to achieve good results and maintain the lead, I need to keep my car in good condition which in turn requires a lot of funds. I am glad Target are supporting me. I hope more companies come forward to support rally drivers like me.”
