Outward Bound Oman is a 'jewel', says UK's Prince Andrew. Here's why

Muscat: HRH The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, has called Outward Bound Oman "a jewel in the global Outward Bound community" and a new training centre has been labelled 'absolutely exceptional' by independent assessors.
Outward Bound Oman hosted the international audit review team, which concluded that the operation in Oman was 'absolutely exceptional', with 'an excellent focus on real learning'.
In the presence of HH Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Sayyid, HRH The Duke of York and Outward Bound Patron HH Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, Outward Bound Oman received yet more good news.
First established in the UK in 1941, Outward Bound now operates in 32 countries around the world, and every two years, each centre is independently audited to ensure it performs to the highest international standards.
Oman is the first Arabic speaking nation to set up an Outward Bound operation to develop and challenge its human resources.
Outward Bound Oman General Manager Mark Evans said, "This outcome is the result of the sustained hard work and commitment of many people, and of a genuinely productive and positive partnership between government, the private sector, and the not-for-profit community.
"The support of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has enabled us to plan the construction of three national outdoor training centres, which in turn will enable us to work with much greater numbers of participants in the coming years. The first, in Al Sharqiyah, which has just opened, and the second in Muscat which is under construction and the third will begin before year-end."
A key element in the success story is the corporate community in Oman who, through their social investment programmes, fund Omani young people on the Outward Bound training courses, so developing their key life skills, and enhancing their employability.
