Omani-Slovak Businessmen Forum discusses ways to boost trade

Muscat: To boost business ties between Oman and Slovakia an Omani-Slovak Businessmen Forum was held on Monday by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
The forum aims at promoting relations of bilateral cooperation in economic, investment, trade and tourism fields, as well as means of developing them.
Peter Pellegrini, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister for Investment said that during his visit to the Sultanate, he noticed the availability of several opportunities of cooperation in many areas, such as education by conducting scientific research among universities in the Sultanate and Slovakia.
He added that the Slovak companies have potential opportunities to cooperate with Omani companies in manufacturing of food, agriculture, engineering, chemical industry and technology of modern cities.
He pointed out that Slovakia is a leading county in car manufacture and it is possible to provide Oman with relevant expertise.
On his turn, Eng. Ridha bin Juma Al Saleh, OCCI Deputy Chairman for Administrative and Financial Affairs said that OCCI is keen to strengthen trade relations and establish partnerships among Omani and Slovak businessmen.
He added that Oman and Slovakia have been bound by trade ties since several years as the value of Omani imports from Slovakia stood at more than $1.5 million last year whereas the value of Omani exports to Slovakia hit more than $23,000.
The forum witnessed presenting several working papers as Faisal Al Hinai from Ithraa delivered a presentation on investment opportunities in the Sultanate. Other presentations were shown by Tanfeedh, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE),
Innovation Complex and Asyad during which investment opportunities were highlighted for the Slovak delegation. The Slovak delegation also gave other presentations about investment opportunities in Slovakia.
B2B meetings were also held on the sidelines of the forum among the Omani and Slovak businessmen during which avenues of cooperation and trade partnership were explored by both sides.
