Preparations complete for karate championship

Muscat: Shotokan Karate Centre is organising the fifth national karate championship in cooperation with Bausher Sports Cultural Club at the beginning of May 2019.
It will be conducted on 3 and 4 May 2019 at Alamal Sports Club hall at Ghala in Muscat Governorate under the auspices of Mrs Naila bint Hamad bin Humood Al Busaidi, the head of the Omani committee for deaf sports. The centre has completed the final preparations for conducting the championship which will be preceded by a course for referees, coaches and players organised by Shotokan Karate Centre in the lecture hall at Alamal Sport Club on May 2, 2019 on the purpose of witnessing the new things and innovations in the rules of the international refereeing of karate, kata and kumite.
The head of the centre Sensei Nawaz Mokeri has announced that the number of the registered competitors in this championship is around 380 male and females representing 22 national clubs, academies and private centres spread in the governorates of the Sultanate divided according to age categories in kata, individual kumite and team kata. In this national championship, there will be a good addition of participation of female players from the category of female deaf and dumb players in the kata contests.
Hani Al Hooti, the manager of Alamal Deaf and Dumb Club has indicated that it is the first time for this category to take part in the competitions. It is worth mentioning that Shotokan Karate Centre is organising the fifth national championship after it succeeded in organising similar championships in the previous years which were praised by all those concerned with karate sport in the Sultanate such as clubs, administrators and players.
The centre is trying to develop this sport through its branches all over Muscat Governorate. The organising committee thanked the Omani Karate Committee presided by brigadier Said bin Saleh Alazri for their support in spreading karate sport and highlighting it among other sports and mitigating all difficulties that face this sport and consolidating the meaning of cooperation linking it to other national clubs, academies and private centres.
