Oman Cricket: Zakir Khan, Mazhar Javed star in PDO’s win over QBG

Muscat: Superb batting by opener Mazhar Javed (55 off 29) and excellent bowling by captain Zakir Khan (four for 16) saw PDO register a five-run win against QBG in a C Division match at Muscat Municipality Ground III in Al Amerat.
Making first use of the perfect batting conditions, PDO reached a respectable 180 for six in 20 overs, thanks to a second-wicket partnership of 82 between Mazhar and Tayyab Rasheed, who scored 44 off 38 balls. Rajesh Khetani batted well too for his 26-ball 37. Shiyas Ibrahim claimed two wickets for 21 runs.
QBG failed to get the start they needed to chase down such a big total as they slumped to 49 for three before being ultimately bowled out for 130 in the 19th over. Prem Kumar was the only notable scorer with a fighting 58 off 48 balls. Karim Al Balushi scored 23. Apart from Zakir, Naved Ahmed also bowled well to claim three wickets.

Qamar shines for Trust Oilfield

Brilliant bowling by Qamar Nazir, who took four wickets, helped Trust Oilfield Services defeat Waves Engineering Consultancy by 17 runs in a D Division game at Muscat Municipality Ground IV.
Asked to bat first, Trust Oilfield were out for 162 in 20 overs. Dileep Chandran (37 off 25) and Amal Raj Ratan (32 off 25) were the notable scorers. Muhammed Umar and Mohammed Muslim took two wickets each.
Waves Engineering got a good start but then suffered a middle order collapse, slumping from 90 for one to 128 for six, before being bowled out for 145 in the last over. Usman Asghar scored a fluent 59 off 44 balls while Muhammed Omar (29) and Mohammed Wasim (25) also contributed with the bat. Qamar Nazir claimed four wickets for 25. Shakil Khan and Ilyas Afridi took two wickets each.

Kishore leads MSE to victory
Mustafa Sultan Enterprises (MSE) rode on a four-wicket spell by Kishore Krishnan to defeat Majees CT by three wickets in an F Division game at Muscat Municipality Ground III.
Kishore did not allow Majees batsmen to settle down, removing four top batsmen in his four-over spell for just 23 runs. Unnikrishnan Vishnu bowled well too, to claim two wickets.Opener Aniq Jassim (29) and Bhuvana Kumar (29) were the leading scorers for Majees CT.
Chasing 139 to win, MSE surpassed the target in 19 overs, scoring 142 for seven. Unni Madhusudanan was the main scorer with 36 off 25 balls. Nagendra Kumar (33) and Abdullah Alam (30) batted well too. Nanda Kumar and Lijo Johnson took two wickets each for Majees.

Aquib’s ton lifts Classic CT

A brilliant 111 off just 61 balls by Aquibulla Shariff led Classic CT to an impressive 64-run win over OCT Al Nahda in a G Division match at Muscat Municipality Ground IV.
Batting first after winning the toss, Classic CT piled up 196 for four in 20 overs. Apart from Aquib’s superb knock, Awais scored 25.
Classic CT bowlers bowled beautifully to skittle out OCT Al Nahda for 132 in 17.2 overs, with Mohammed Taufeeq taking three wickets. Aqibulla, Latheef Abdul and Abdul Suhan took two wickets apiece.
Mohammed Ali scored 26 and Abdullah Al Balushi 23 for OCT Al Nahda.
