Oman's SalamAir plans daily flights to Dubai

Muscat: Residents of the Sultanate will have more connection options to Dubai as Oman’s first budget airline, SalamAir plans daily flights to the city, and Emirates and flydubai announce their first code share routes.
SalamAir on Monday said it will start operating daily flights to the Dubai International Airport (DXB) from October 8.
The new route will complement SalamAir’s current flight to the Al Maktoum International Airport until October 28 when the airline has set plans re-route all flights to DXB.
SalamAir will be operating daily morning and evening services to and from Terminal 2, with the first flight departing Muscat at 8:30 and departing DXB at 10:50. The evening flight is scheduled to depart Muscat at 17:30 and depart DXB heading back to the Sultanate’s capital at 20:00.
Captain Mohamed Ahmed, chief executive officer of SalamAir, said “The addition of flights to DXB is in response to our guests’ requests and the growing demand for an affordable alternative to this popular destination. Dubai International Airport is one of the most prominent hubs in the region and we are in negotiations with some of the city’s tourism and business attractions to offer our guests even more value-added services. This new route will not only capitalise on Dubai’s wider international network and economic position, but also further increase connectivity between Oman and the United Arab Emirates.”
Network expansion
Meanwhile, Emirates and flydubai announced that Emirates will expand its network to 29 flydubai destinations across three continents, including Muscat and Salalah, following the commencement of their partnership.
It was announced on Monday that the new partner network, through its code share, will offer greater frequency and easier access to more global destinations, with the advantage of connecting baggage to the final destination.
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of the Emirates Group and chairman of flydubai, said, “This is an exciting first step in unlocking the benefits of partnership for passengers, who will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique advantages each airline offers, as well as greater choice and flexibility when connecting via Dubai. This is just the start and as we expand the partner network in the coming months we will open up more opportunities for our passengers to explore the world.”
Emirates and flydubai will also deliver a product experience reflective of their unique brand characteristics throughout the customer journey.
When booked together, as part of the code share, Emirates passengers will receive complimentary meals and the Emirates checked baggage allowance on flights operated by flydubai in both the business and economy classes.
