Muscat: The GCC Committee for Unified Register-Based Census 2020 held its seventh meeting on April 18, 2019 in the Statistical Centre for the GCC-Stat in Muscat. The meeting was chaired by Omar Ismaili Director General of the E-census 2020.
This meeting aimed at reviewing the preparations and progress made by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states towards the project implementation and its milestones. Representatives of the member states gave an overview of the project’s status in their countries, including the measures taken to finalise the preparation phase, methodologies to achieve the main objectives and the reference date of E-Census 2020.
Furthermore, the committee followed up on the recommendations of the committee’s sixth meeting and those of the GCC Standing Committee of Population and Social Statistics’ sixth meeting related to the Unified Register-Based Census 2020.
The GCC-Stat organised this meeting to complement the efforts made by the Statistical Centres of the GCC states to develop their programmes, work mechanisms and cooperation with the Centre.
