Football: Oman junior team arrive in Tajikistan to take part in AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers

Muscat: A 23-member Oman junior team, accompanied by coach Yacoub Al Sabahi, arrived in Tajikistan’s capital of city of Dushanbe to take part in the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers.
The team, who are also accompanied by an Oman Football Association delegation headed by board member Sheikh Sultan Al Hosni, will be competing in Group B qualifiers.
In Group B qualifying event, in which the matches will be played in the city of Hisor from September 20 to 24, Oman will compete for top honours with hosts Tajikistan, Syria and Maldives.
Competitions in ten groups will be taking places in different countries, at the end of which the ten group toppers and five best second-placed teams will qualify for the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship.
They will be joined by hosts Malaysia in the championship that is scheduled for September 20 to October 7 in 2018.
In Group B, twice champions Oman will start their campaign against Maldives on September 20. They will play their second match against Syria on September 22 before completing their engagements with a match against hosts Tajikistan on September 24.
All matches will be played at the Hisor Central Stadium.
After arriving in Tajikistan, the Omani juniors started their preparations for the qualifiers in right earnest, undergoing a training session under the watchful eyes of Yacoub Al Sabahi.
