94 per cent of expat employees in public sector work in these two fields

Muscat: 94 per cent of expatriate employees in the government sector work in the medical and educational fields, the Minister of Civil Services said.

In a statement to Majlis Al Shura on Sunday, Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service said that, “by the end of 2018 the number of employees in the government sector amounted to 174,107 employees where Omanis represent 87.5 per cent of the total staff in 39 government institutions."

"Expatriates are working in the medical and educational jobs, and it accounts to 94 per cent," the Minister added.

The ministry also added there 51.6 per cent of government sector employees are men while 48 per cent of them are female workers.
