More than 450 expat workers deported from Oman in a week

Muscat: More than 450 workers besides 325 labour law violators have been deported from Oman in a week, according to authorities.
Three hundred and twenty-five labour law violators and 463 workers were deported this week, the Ministry of Manpower announced.
The ministry published its weekly index on workers who violated the Labour Laws from September 3 to September 9.
"248 traders, 35 of the violations were by domestic labourers,42 farm workers, 170 workers that left their job,293 workers were arrested,105 had no documentation, 18 workers were referred from other authorities," the report stated.
More than 400 labourers have been arrested for violating labour laws, according to the Ministry of Manpower.
Earlier this year, the ministry reported that of the 443 labours were arrested in Oman, "the highest indication based on Governorate came from Muscat with 174 workers, and North Batinah in second place with 99".
Some 350 were traders, 46 of the violations were by domestic labourers, 47 agriculture, 171 theatre workers and 33 others.
“The number of manpower violators that have been deported outside of the country is 497,” the report stated.
The data covers the period starting from July 23 to 29.
