UNICEF representative praises Oman over child rights

Muscat: Lena Khalil Al Wreikat, UNICEF representative in Muscat has reaffirmed that in the last 40 years the Sultanate has advanced in education rights of children of age six and above.
She said in a statement that the Sultanate has committed to creation of comprehensive education opportunities, quality education and Integrated Early Comprehensive Development (IECD) in all the governorates and wilayats.
She said that the Sultanate and the UNICEF have established quality standards in IECD model which combines education, health, development and protection. This model could be applied to all governorates of the Sultanate, she added.
She said that the Unicef has worked in partnership with the Ministry of Education for introduction of educational reforms based on the child-friendly education curriculum concerned with development of skills of children, continued evaluation of learning and reduction of classroom size.
