Dar Al Atta’a announces winners of contests

Muscat: ‘Let’s Read Programme’ of Dar Al Atta’a has announced the winners of the 13th Children’s Writing Competition.
School children in Oman were invited to write an essay on the following topic: ‘My Favourite Place in Oman.’
More than 600 entries were received from 29 schools across the country. The judges really enjoyed reading the entries which highlighted many wonderful places to visit in Oman. The children gave directions to different locations.

They described Oman’s glorious coastline and beaches and wrote of ocean adventures.
Others described exciting visits to the turtle nesting sites, lush wadis and palm groves, star filled deserts, fun amusement parks, interesting museums, peaceful mosques and the magnificent Royal Opera House.
The judges were very impressed by descriptions of colourful, frankincense filled souqs, the historical details of ancient forts, fun days at hots springs, sinkholes and gorges and to read of the fantastic activities pursued in cool mountainous regions.
Sponsors were tyhanked for providing funding for the prizes. Lulu International (sponsors of the Let’s Read Programme in Oman Avenues Mall), Sweets of Oman, Oman Perfumes LLC., KPMG, Future Ceramics, MacDonalds, Apex Publishing and Amit Sampat.
The prize giving ceremony will be held on Saturday 20th April at 4.30pm in the Balcony Hall, 3rd Floor Oman Avenues Mall (Any winners who are unable to attend the ceremony, can collect their prizes from the Let’s Read Charity Book Shop 10am -9pm any day after the event).
