Pakistan PM Khan to visit China soon

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will be heading to China on a four-day visit from 25-28 April, according to his country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He will be visiting on the invitation of Chinese leader President Xi Jinping and will attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing. Jinping will inaugurate the event on 26 April.

The Belt and Road Forum provides has been billed as a platform for countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), allowing them to exchange views and experiences on regional connectivity; policy synergy; socio-economic development and trade and commerce.

Leaders from 40 countries and delegations from over 100 countries, international organisations and corporate sector are expected to participate in the event.

During the visit, Khan will be accompanied by a ministerial delegation. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the forum and will also participate in the Leaders’ Round Table.

Khan is also set to hold bilateral meetings with Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Pakistan and China will also sign several MoUs and Agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse areas.

Khan is also expected to attend the Beijing International Horticulture Exhibition-2019 and address Pakistan Trade and Investment Conference in Beijing.

The visit will be the second Khan has made to China since becoming Prime Minister last year.
