Oman, US discuss border security, export controls

Muscat: An Oman-United States joint meeting on a programme on control of exports and border security was held at the foreign ministry yesterday.
Dr. Mohammed bin Awadh Al Hassan, assigned with the duties of the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs, chaired the Omani side at the meeting.
From the US side, the meeting was chaired by director of the programme on control of exports and border security and regional advisor of the programme at the US embassy in Muscat.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials at the Foreign Ministry and the regional advisor of the programme at the US Embassy, Muscat and a number of experts.
The programme aims to assist governments and support the national efforts aimed to meet the requirements of the UN Security Council’s resolutions No. 1540 preventing proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their access to terrorists.
The programme aimed to enhance several aspects on control of exports and border security.
