Muscat: Virtual reality technology has helped the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Labour affairs learn more about how projects in Duqm will look after they are complete.

The Undersecretary of the ministry, Hamad bin Khamis Al Amri, used a virtual reality set developed by Omani company Ertikaz to view the projects of Duqm Refinery and Duqm Port and helped him realise how they'd contribute to the economy when completed.

Issam al Balushi, who helped developed the programmes and presentation, said to Times of Oman, “These programmes are not completed yet and so we used virtual reality to take the undersecretary into the field and view it in the future. This is one of the ways with which virtual reality can help in the business world.”

This came during the third edition of Oman Downstream Exhibition & Conference (ODEC), organised by Omanexpo and the World Refining Association (WRA), which opened on Tuesday at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.
